Oncology – Medical

Oncology is an Internal Medicine, or for children - a Pediatric, medical doctor with additional qualifications enabling specialization in the evaluation and management of all types of benign and malignant cancers.  This specialist assesses the type and extent of cancer and administers medical chemotherapy. In addition, he/she collaborates with Surgical Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists on complimentary treatments for cancer. Oncologists provide on-going follow-up care to monitor the progress of treatment or to screen for the potential return of the cancer. This specialty can be found combined with Hematology (Hematology-Oncology).
