Orthopedic Surgery - Hip

Orthopedic Surgeons may develop a special interest in procedures involving the treatment of hip-related orthopedic conditions. Some of the common conditions treated by hip orthopedic surgeons are:

  • Hip arthritis - which is very common in the elderly, especially in those who are overweight. Hip arthritis presents with so much pain in the hip area during ambulation, causing the patient to have difficulties and limitations in mobility. Some of these patients might require hip replacement surgery.
  • Hip fracture - hip fractures can be due to trauma or can be due to osteoporosis or brittle bones. A hip fracture might require hip replacement surgery or hip repair with metal implants depending on the severity and location of the fracture.
