Orthopedics Surgery

Orthopedics Surgery is a specific surgical specialty (children - a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon), with the medical doctor acquiring additional qualifications enabling specialization in the medical and surgical management of patients with bone, muscle, and joint and other musculoskeletal conditions. Common conditions include injuries (fractures, sprains and strains), congenital deformities, infections, tumors, and degenerative diseases (osteoarthritis).  Procedures include fracture repair, torn cartilage repair or excision(meniscectomy) or joint replacement. Some orthopedic surgeons further specialize in specific anatomic areas such as Spine, Hand, Knee, Hip, or Shoulder and most are proficient at minimally invasive or laparoscopic procedures.
